CTE Scholarships and Tuition Awards Banquet

BriAnne Shipton receives scholarship from Gary Wixom, Assistant Commissioner of the Utah System of Higher Education

On Thursday, April 28 the 25th Annual CTE Scholarships and Tuition Awards Banquet took place at Salt Lake Community College. This banquet is a longstanding tradition used to honor CTE students throughout the state who have been selected to receive a scholarship and tuition award from a postsecondary institution.

Each award recipient was one of 175 applicants who applied for a scholarship and tuition award this year. Each year, the pool of applicants increases and the competition among those applicants grows more fierce.

BriAnne Shipton, a marketing student at Uintah High School and a CTE scholarship recipient to Utah Valley University says, “I have always been a ‘people’ person. I enjoy working with people and learning about them. .  .The [Travel] and Tourism [Pathway] seemed a natural fit with my interests and my personality. . .After much thought and research, I feel confident this is the perfect occupational area for me. I am excited to get more training and know that a CTE scholarship will help me accomplish that goal.”

This year 93 scholarships were awarded to high school CTE seniors for one year’s tuition at one of the following post-secondary institutions:

Utah System of Higher Education
College of Eastern Utah–Price Campus
Dixie State College
